The Color and Texture of Emotion

What color is anticipation? What texture does frustration have? What happens when we give an emotion space to be seen rather than asking it to disappear?

Emotions shape how we respond to uncertainty, conflict, and change. When we learn to recognize them as information, they can become valuable tools for self-awareness, resilience, and intentional action.

In this experiential workshop, emotional intelligence coach Michelle Choate and haiku poet and visual artist Matilda Bubb invite you to explore and express your emotional experiences through language, imagination, and art-making. Beginning with evocative readings and guided visualization, we'll notice how emotions appear in the mind and body as data — and practice meeting them with openness and curiosity rather than judgment.

You'll reflect on an emotionally charged experience of your own, drawing on emotional intelligence and self-compassion to explore it from a fresh perspective. Through haiku, painting, and collage, you'll create a text and visual expression of what you discover: the contrast, movement, or transformation within the experience. Learn skills you can apply in your everyday life to understand and integrate experiences.

No writing or art experience is needed — only a willingness to notice, imagine, and create.
